Now that Spring has sprung upon us and it’s nearly Easter, I’ve tried to declutter my makeup bag and have a Spring time detox. The makeup I usually keep in my handbag consists of everything you could think of, and then some more. I seem to add bits everyday – you know a lipstick here, an eyeshadow palette there – just in case! Before I know it my handbag resembles a beauty counter at Debenhams – which makes finding the keys at the bottom of my bag quite tricky! What better time to have a beauty edit than Spring and replace my winter must haves with my current Easter favourites.
Base. I’ve been wearing Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation during the day in the shade Desert Beige. It’s something I always fall back on as the coverage is so reliable and always gets me through a full work day. It does cause a little flashback, so it’s not a great one to wear in the evening. For this reason I also keep the Armani Power Fabric foundation to hand – review here.
Conceal. I’ve been using the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer in the shade light neutral. It’s great for highlighting as it’s so light and creamy. I find it never cakes so it’s perfect for under eyes. I’ve also been using the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer in shade SX07 for blemishes. I know this is a bit of a marmite product, but I find the coverage is really really good.
Blush. I love warm peachy tones in the Spring so Bobbi Brown blush in the shade nude peach is perfect for me.
Bronze. Soleil Tan de Chanel takes up a lot of space in my makeup bag, but it’s worth it. I love the mousse like texture and find the colour so flattering for light to medium skin. It’s like a really creamy version of Hoola by Benefit which is another favourite of mine, but didn’t quite make the cut.
Contour. For quick on the go contouring I use the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette in the shade light/medium. It’s a great two-in-one product and has the added benefit of a large mirror.
Eyes. To provide a good base and to hide any discolouration on the eyelids, I use Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in the shade shell. It’s a matte cream with slight pink undertones and a buttery texture – the perfect base.
Lips. My all time favourite brand of lipstick has to be Chanel, and one of my favorite shades is Vivienne – a muted nude with beige undertones. I never leave the house without either Vivienne, Secret or Boy as they’re all beautiful nudes.
Tools. I carry my Sigma F80 brush everywhere with me in case I need to reapply my base products. It provides a flawless finish due to its flat top and synthetic bristles. I also carry around my Kate Spade planner, I’m definitely the sort of person who needs to write things down otherwise I’ll forget, so I’d be lost without this!
What are your Spring time/ Easter essentials?
